The Monark 839E Electronic Ergometer is a fully computerized, pendulum balanced ergometer that comes equipped with removable control unit pre-programmed with Astrand, Bruce, YMCA, Naughton, Ramp, and Incremental protocols, amongst others. Individual exercise protocols can be easily programmed and stored via a built in protocol builder. The Monark 839E Electronic Ergometer Analysis Software represents the pinnacle of cycle ergometry tools available in the market today. Target heart rate adjusted workouts are possible via optical ear or telemetry-based chest belt senors. Special analysis software gives you total control over your Monark 839E Electronic Ergometer via Windows interface, while protocol building tools allows for extremely flexible export of test results to a database for further analysis. Work may be measured in power (watts or kpm/min), force (kp or Newton), or VO2 (ml/kg/min).

Advanced features include menu based programs, multi-lingual options, built-in digital timer, optical metronome, and remote controller with backlit LCD display. Since Autumn of 2001, the Monark 839E Electronic Ergometer comes compatible with all analog EKG machines and many digital EKG machines for which the manufacturer has added Monark as a compatible bike. Serial communication port enables connection to EKG machine or PC. A direct printer connection port is also present.
